What is non-destructive testing and how it can benefit you?

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is a wide group of analysis techniques used in science and industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component or system without causing damage. The terms Non Destructive Examination (NDE), Non Destructive Inspection (NDI) and Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) are also commonly used to describe this technology. Because NDT does not permanently alter the article being inspected, it is a highly valuable technique that can save both money and time in product evaluation, troubleshooting, and research. Common NDT methods include Ultrasonic, Radiographic, Eddy Current Testing, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant etc.

NDT is not only about equipment, but even more about the professionals operating the equipment and interpreting the results. Proper training and certification is paramount to this aspect. In NDT there are three Levels (Level I, Level II & Level III) of qualification from beginner to practitioner to expert respectively.

We have invested in a bank of specimens with artificially induced defects for our ICN/PCN training & examination purposes. The specimens (Plates, Pipes) are of different thickness & different diameter (in case of pipe) and consists of defects like Lack of side wall fusion, Lack of penetration, Slag inclusion, Root crack, Centre line crack, Cluster of porosity, Transverse cracks, Toe crack etc.

NDTS India started its training and certification business with a vision to provide QUALITY training to the NDT professionals and corporates. As of now we have trained and certified more than 200 professionals. We have also conducted customized training for many esteemed organizations like IOCL, Nayara Energy, Cairn India, BPCL, Godrej, L&T Heavy Engineering, SA International-Egypt etc.
