At the Fraunhofer IKTS site in Dresden-Klotzsche is focused on developing advanced non-destructive testing solutions for ceramics and many other materials.
The Institute is constantly working on new solutions. And these solutions would be presented on the new NDT4INDUSTRY online seminar series.

Complementary together: x-rays and thermography enhance battery production

with Dr. Peter Krüger (NDT Test Lab at Fraunhofer IKTS)
The safe functioning of a battery requires the exclusion of production-related damage to the functional elements of the battery. The prerequisite for this is the investigation of the battery assemblies at various stages during the manufacturing process.
A combination of the non-destructive complementary testing methods – such as x-ray and thermography – in battery production promises fast and efficient quality assurance. Combining the darkfield capabilities of thermographic methods with the high resolution of the x-rays gives the opportunity to sort out invalid specimen and processes at early stages. The inspection method is applicable especially but not only for battery cells at various stages of production for different types of defects and can be used inline and offline.
